Once upon a time we left our kingdom in Far Far Away, Madagascar and the Central Park Zoo and we sailed on the Allure, we got to go on early since we are part of the entertainment, it was like going back in time and at the same time seeing an amazing city on water.  In order to experience the many areas of the ship, you must experience one neighborhood at a time.

We are going to let Alana Mizwicki, the special needs travel agent, and her goofy friend Deann Walter take it from here but we may interrupt every now and then.

There is no other ship in the past that has this unique design and coming from a travel agent’s perceptive, I am truly amazed. The Promenade has 2 levels and a bar that turns into dancing waters. The Royal Promenade is so magnificent that watching it makes you wonder how this is possible on a ship.
As a special needs travel agent I see this as one option that our guests with needs will not be able to get as the second level because it is set in a kind of loft and those in scooter or power chairs cannot possibly access.  On the positive note, I personally do not see this as a problem since the store’s that are on the second level are same the type of stores that can be accessed on the lower level.
Being a friend to a MS person in a scooter I would more than likely do the checking out for my friend on the second level if necessary. Here’s the part that I am the most impressed about the Premade.  In the middle of the Promenade there is a reservation booth where you can arrange each day’s activities.  These activities can be arranged by the travel agent so everyone can enjoy every feature the ship has to offer, kind of one day at a time.  The way I see it is that our office can arrange each day’s activities as though we were visiting one Country at a time.  Also, with respect to our guests with special needs and the caretakers, planning events in advance makes the experience more enjoyable and less stressful. 41.jpg
“Captains log…I don’t think we should be at the wheel here. But, hey it might be fun; we can surely find our way back to the Central Park Zoo in this thing. I don’t know Skipper, I might want to live here. Well Kowalski that would be an evasive maneuver, we will have to consult the boys.

The dancing waters are spectacular.  The bar rises up and down and the dancing waters are under it. You have to see it to believe it for yourself. It was amazing to find the Board Walk and the Aqua Theatre.  The, what I call Merry go round (Carousel) was amazing. Just think about it, be a kid again, and even that terrible age of being a teenager.  Remember when you were a kid and you walked into a photo booth and took a picture with your friend and took it home to Mom and Dad?  Well, you can do it again. There’s a photo booth near the Carousel on the Boardwalk where you can take a picture after you ride the Carousel.

And don’t stop there, there’s a huge candy store full of treats and goodies to eat.  Then you can stop a Johnny Rockets and the Donut Shop for an outside lunch.  While sitting for lunch across you’ll see a Seafood Shop and then you look up and you see what I think was the most magnificent part of the ship, the Aqua Theatre.

“I love seafood; will you please take me; pretty please,
pretty please? I’ll be your best friend.”

I went to Acapulco years ago and remember the diving cliff where divers dove from a cliff into the ocean.  There is a diver that dives from a height similar to the cliff in Acapulco.  We can check show time and watch the show that includes diving, synchronized swimming and dancing waters.  It’s truly amazing, and on a ship.  As you look around you really cannot believe you’re sailing.  It would be fun to enjoy this as a group and this is our mission to explore as an option.

Oh, I almost forgot.  There are Boardwalk staterooms available overlooking the Aqua Theatre and Boardwalk.  Accessible staterooms first come, first serve basis.

“DONKEY, riding on my shoulders doesn’t qualify you for an accessible stateroom. I know you like the big showers but you can’t have one. Pick one of those wonderful staterooms above your head…. now get off my back, you’re hurting my shoulder.”

On another day we can check out Central Park. The landscaping is beautiful, especially when you love the outdoors like me. There are Café’s, Gallery’s, and Chops Grille for that special dinner on Central Park and so much more.  There’s even an Oriental garden with a Gazebo, but again I’m a garden freak.  The Windjammer is not far away and you can stop for lunch or a snack and then go see more sights.  For our guests that are in scooters and power chairs, there are a few obstacles, but again nothing very significant.

Again, there are staterooms overlooking Central Park, as well an accessible stateroom. Wait until you see your cabin’s comfy bed, and flat screen TV.

“But Shrek, I know the beds are nice and fluffy but I like sleeping here. You are puffy....oops I mean fluffy too.”

There is so much to love about this ship that you’ll have to see to believe. Now, keep in mind that in between all of this wonder we will be stopping at Ports of call and meeting in the Conference area with our MS friends enjoying information that we all share as an interest.  We are working on ways to make the experience of traveling on this incredible ship an extremely awesome trip for all of our guest as well as our MS friends and keeping them as comfortable as possible.  Keep in mind that shore excursions for our special needs guests are huge on our list of things to accomplish.  Often many of our guests like to stay aboard the ship when in port; they say it’s like having the ship all to themselves.
“Hey Shrek, can we get off the ship today?”
“Well Fiona I wanted to just stay here and relax by the pool.”
“Well Shrek, that’s boring I want to do something.
What can we do here?”

“Are you kidding me, there is a lot to do on the ship that’s fun. But when in port the stores and casino are closed, but you can still…
Relax in the Whirlpool Tub and take in the view,
Workout at the fitness center like Alex,
Climb a rock wall,
You put your right foot in,
You put your right foot out,
You put your right foot in
And you shake it all about.
You do the Penguin Pokey
And you turn yourself around,
That's what it's all about.

See Mort how easy this dance is. You go boy.
I’m not sure what this guy is doing but it looks fun,
Let's go surfing now, everyone is learning how....
Play a little basketball,

Check out the chicks in the Solarium,
oops that would be for me, or

Take a ride on the zipline,
uh, well maybe…

Try a little Scuba, or
Take in a 3D Movie and much much more!

It is I King Julian
I have decided that I am going to make this ship my kingdom.
See My Crown, it's Official

I shall not be letting you down. I shall only be letting you up. Make way for King Julien!

This can be a great experience for all if, literally, we take it one day at a time.

The End.
